Today we read the story Little Blue Little Yellow by Leo Lionni. The story is about 2 best friends little blue and little yellow and when they hug each other something special happens! They turn green. Today to follow-up with the story we had our own little blues and yellows to test when you put them together if they actually make green. What do you know we made our own little greens. This story wraps up our color week. Yesterday children were given M&M's and skittles to sort by color. They then recorded how many they had of each color. The children then used this data to graph how many candies they had on the back of their paper. This was a challenging, but fun task! Look for your child's paper to come home in their folder today. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Animals 2 by 2
I am sure your children have told you all about the creatures in our classroom! We have started our 1st science kit, Animals 2 by 2. Children will have the opportunity to compare and contrast and closely observe several different kinds of animals. We will learn the parts of the animals' body, what each animal needs to survive, where the animal lives in the wild, and other characteristics of each animal. At this moment we have goldfish, guppies, and water snails in our classroom. Soon we will have red worms, earth worms, pill bugs, and sow bugs. Today the boys and girls learned about the different parts of both a guppy and a goldfish. We observed how they moved, ate and interacted with each other. We also put a tunnel in their tank and watched as the fish swam through it. The boys and girls are loving these classroom visitors!!

We Met Out Buddies Today!
Today we met our 5th grade buddies from Mr. Cottone's class. We filled out an interview sheet to learn more about our buddies. Then the 5th grade buddies read stories to us. We are so excited to do more projects with our buddies over the school year. Having buddies helps to build a school community and the kids love seeing their buddies at lunch, on the bus and around the school!

Welcome to Our Kindgarten Class Blog!
Welcome to our class blog! I will use this blog to easily communicate some of the fun things that are happening in our Kindergarten classroom on a daily/weekly basis. This will also be a great way to post pictures too! I hope everyone enjoys this site.
Today we went on a hunt around the school to find many important places. We found the gym, office, cafeteria, library and computer lab. The kindergartners helped me to read the map and answer clues about where to go next! We also did calendar activities on the Smartboard. Ask your child about the "Days of Week" song or the "Monthly Macarena." A favorite we have done the last 2 days has been the Tooty Ta. Don't be surprised if you hear them singing these songs at home.
Below is a picture of myself and Mrs. Cleland. Mrs. Cleland is the kinderplus aide at lunch time and in the afternoon. This means she is in our classroom along with myself from 12:00 until dismissal at 4:00. This is Mrs. Clelands second year in Kindergarten and 14th year as an aide in the district. She is WONDERFUL! Everyday she goes with your kiddos to lunch and assists them with the lunch buying process and with anything else she needs.
