Zoo Trip

Zoo, zoo, who's in the zoo?
Today was our zoo trip to the Detroit Zoo. It was was a great day for the zoo, but a little hot! We made sure we always had plenty of water!
We had our wonderful chaperones take groups of kids around the zoo to visit the different animals! We saw lions, polar bears, llamas, prarie dogs, tigers, bears, and many more animals! For some kids, this was their first time to the zoo! The kids were so tired after our long day of walking and visiting animals. We had music and watched Finding Nemo to end our day :).

Here are a few snap shots of our trip to the zoo:

This week, we also had our Boulan Buddies! Our buddies created outside games for us to play like tag, soccer, sidewalk chalk, races, and much more! It was a fun way to exercise and play with our buddies!
We had a full week of activities!

Animals Everywhere!

This week, our theme was Zoo Animals, in preparation for our zoo trip. We did animal projects, writing, and literacy centers! We had fun with animals!

Here we are planning for our animal reports! We worked with our Boulan Buddies to research an animal and find out where it lives, what it eates, if it lives alone, and a fun fact! We are continuing to work on these in class. We will be displaying these in our hallway with beauitful illustrations!

During centers this week, we did many animal themed projects. We created our own zoo book, pretended we were an animal and thought about what we would do in the zoo. We even went on a scavenger hunt in the classroom to find zoo animals!

This week, we also practiced slowly sounding out words to hear begining, middle, and ending sounds. We worked with partners to play a sound game. We looked at pictures and slowly sounded out the word. For example the word top, t-o-p. If we could do it, we matched the picture on our game board!

Thank You!

Parents and families,

Thank you so much for everything you have done for us during teacher appreciation week.
We are so thankful for a supportive group of parents who take pride in their children's education. We really appreciate all of the flowers, cards, gifts, and the lunch given by the PTO.

It is such a pleasure to work with your children each and every day. Seeing their progress and growth is a reward and it always makes us smile :). Our children are our number one priority and we will do anything to help them learn. When parents and teachers work together, it ensures the success of our school and students.

Thank you again for your thoughts and kind words.

Farm Field Trip

This past Wednesday we went on our class field trip to Upland Hills Farm!

We had a fun bus ride to the farm with all of the kindergarten classes and parent chaperones. When we arrived, the first thing we did was gather into the barn for the animal show!
The farmers brough out many farm animals for us to see! We saw goats, cows, sheep, a baby pig, geese, a dog, and chickens! The farmers told us all about the animals and how they raise them on the farm. We learned that some farm animals give us milk and some give us meat to eat. The farmer even showed us how to make our own butter from cream- each of us got a turn to shake the butter!

After the barn animals, we went on a hay ride! We had so much fun playing in the hay and we even buried some of our friends! It was quite a bumpy ride to our next evet and we had fun travling through the forest!

Our hay ride took us to a story book walk in the woods! We hiked on a trial through the forest and stopped at different parts to read a story! The story was about a lazy farmer who made his duck do all of the farm work. The students enjoyed the displays set up and the story was very cute!

We really enjoyed the story book walk! We took our hay ride back to the farm and enjoyed lunch and play time!
We were so happy it did not rain! The students had such a great time and for some, this was their first time to a farm! We learned many new things about farm and animals and living on the farm. Thank you to everyone who chaperoned on our field trip!
