Spring break :)

This week, we did a few fun crafts before leaving for Spring Break!

With our Boulan buddies we made bunny hats! It was so much fun! We colored easter baskets as well. Our buddies helped us cut, glue, and put all of the pieces together ! We looked so cute! Our buddies always do a great job helping and we are greatful for their support!

Today, we read the book, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. This book is about a crocodile who lives with a human family and has many adventures! After reading the book, we made our own Lyle crocodile puppets!

My Map Book Project

We have been doing a unit on maps. We are looking at different types of maps and learning what they are for. My Map Book is the family project for the month of April. Please have the projects returned no later than Friday, April 27th.

Reading, Reading, and More Reading!

We have been learning many new things this month in Reader's Workshop!
This month, we have focused on non-fiction, good fit books, and stamina!

During independent reading time, we have been finding good fit books at our level and practicing stamina. We have been reading for 15 minutes! We are using our fingers to point to the words and reading the punctuation.We will continue to practice our reading skills!

We had a special reader come to Bemis on Tuesday! He is a chef in the Troy School District! He read us his favorite book. It was fun to hear a story and meet someone new!

St. Patrick's Day Festivities!

We did so many fun St. Patrick's Day activities today! Here are a few pictures to fill you in!


A leprechaun destroyed our classroom last night! He left us clues and we went on a scavenger hunt to find the pot of gold. The leprechaun left us a surprise!

March is reading month! We had a read-in today during rest! We enjoyed reading some of our favorite stories!

During snack time, a friend brought in green sherbert to share! It was delicious!

We graphed Lucky Charms!

Fairy Tale Fun!

During the month of March, we will be learning about Fairy Tales!
We learned about the Three Little Pigs and we will be reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears next week.
Our 5th grade buddies helped us make our own little piggies!
We read many versions of The Three Little Pigs and we used puppets to act out the story!

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!

Today would have been Dr. Suess' 110th birthday!  To celebrate we kicked off March is reading month with a special visit from an author in the morning.  In the afternoon we did some fun Dr. Suess theme related activities.  We made Cat in the Hat, hats.  We also did a Dr. Suess rhyming activity and roll dice game.  We also learned some facts about Dr. Suess on the Smartboard.  We had a fun day celebrating this wonderful author!  We even got a treat from Ananya's mom who was the mystery reader.  We are so lucky!
